MMA fighter mocks Trump's participation trophy after he accepts honorary 9th-degree black belt at Mar-a-Lago
The taekwondo governing body in South Korea has awarded former President Donald Trump with an honorary ninth-degree black belt at Mar-a-Lago this past weekend, the New York Post reports.
The "ninth dan" belt was presented to Trump by Kukkiwon president Lee Dong-seop, which is reportedly the highest level one can achieve in the Korean martial art, which is also an Olympic sport.
Pictures posted on Kukkiwon's Facebook page show Lee posing with Trump, who was wearing a "dobok," the traditional taekwondo uniform.
Trump said of the title: "It is my honor to receive honorary dan certificate and I think taekwondo is magnificent [sic] martial art for self-defense. I wish to see Kukkiwon Taekwondo Team's demonstration."
The Asian-American news website NextShark noted that Trump now outranks Chuck Norris, who is an eighth-degree taekwondo black belt.
Retired mixed martial arts fighter Nathan Quarry described Trump's new belt as a participation trophy:
