Mohsen Rezaee, an Afghan Taekwondo athlete, defeated his Japanese opponent in the qualification rounds at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Mr. Rezaee triumphed over his rival on Saturday, March 16, in China, in the -58 kg weight category, with the match concluding with a score of 12 to 6 in his favour.
Introduced to the nation nearly five decades ago, Taekwondo has seen moments of triumphs and is one of only six sports that have won Nigeria an Olympic medal, yet it remains an untapped reservoir, constrained by challenges both internally and externally, reports PETER AKINBO Taekwondo.
