European Aquatics is pleased to announce that the official bulletin is now available for the fifth and concluding leg of the 2025 European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup, taking place in the Croatian city of Razanac on Saturday, September 27.

“Razanac is a much-loved fixture on the circuit and offers a fascinating finale just one week after the penultimate event in Barcelona where the EA rankings for our open water swimmers will be confirmed,” European Aquatics President Antonio Silva writes in his message of welcome.

“The European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Cup is renowned for testing the resilience and skills of athletes in natural water environments, such as seas and lakes, where competitors must contend with varying temperatures, currents, and weather conditions.

“The Cup series has become a highlight of the swimming calendar for competitive swimmers.

“Razanac has worked hard to become a top-quality destination for open water swimming athletes. I would like to thank EA 1st Vice President Josip Varvodic (also President of the Croatian Swimming Federation), the Croatian Open Water Swimming Federation, and the local authorities. Working together they ensure a top-quality organisation and warm hospitality for all those who travel to the event.”

Dražen Adžić, President of Croatian OWS Federation, comments: “I am incredibly delighted and proud that this European Aquatics event will be organised under the auspices of the Croatian Open Water Swimming Federation. Sport unites us, and open water swimming is a sport that is becoming increasingly popular.”

Razanac, home to 3,000 residents, is located 30 km northeast of Zadar on the southern coast of the Velebit Channel. It is renowned for the quality of its home-made wines.

Damir Jordan Mayor of Razanac, adds: “Our area boasts a sub Mediterranean climate, characterized by long, hot summers and mild winters. Razanac is well-connected by road and air, with the D106 state road and Zadar Airport just 32 km away.

“In 2024, Razanac recorded nearly 300,000 overnight stays, reflecting the growth of our tourism sector. Hosting the European Open Water Swimming Cup promotes Razanac as a notable destination in the sports tourism sector.”

The first three legs in this season’s series were staged at the diverse and challenging venues of Protaras, in Cyprus, Setubal and Paris.

France’s 20-year-old Sacha Velly leads the men’s standings after winning legs two and three, with the opening race in Protaras having been won by the men’s 2024 overall champion Andrea Filadelli of Italy.

In women’s competition the Paris race was won by Monaco’s Lisa Pou, winner of the world 10km bronze in Singapore. France’s Caroline Jouisse took the honours at the leg two race in Setubal, while leg one saw victory for Poland’s Klaudia Tarasiewicz.

The overall women’s title in 2024 went to Ines Delacroix of France.

The course in Razanac’s main bay will consist of six 1660km laps, with the men’s 10km race starting at 09:00 and the women’s race at 09:10. Official training sessions at the venue will take place on September 25 and 26, with the team leaders’ meeting taking place on the latter date at Razanac Library (11.30).
