Some NYC public pools extend swimming hours due to heat advisory
NEW YORK (PIX11) – A heat advisory and air quality alert are in effect for New York City on Tuesday amid severe weather.
Temperatures could reach the low-90s, but heat index values of up to 100 degrees are expected, according to the National Weather Service.
City officials are encouraging residents to stay cool with pools, spray showers and drinking fountains. Public outdoor Olympic and intermediate-size pools will remain open for an extra hour of swimming from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Bronx
- Claremont Pool: 170th Street and Clay Avenue
- Crotona Pool: 173rd Street and Fulton Avenue
- Floating Pool: Tiffany Street and Viele Avenue
- Foster Pool: East 164th Street between Jerome and River avenues
- Haffen Pool: Ely and Burke avenues
- Mapes Pool: East 180th Street between Mapes and Prospect avenues
Brooklyn
- Betsy Head Pool: Boyland, Livonia and Dumont avenues
- Bushwick Pool: Humboldt Street, Flushing and Bushwick avenues
- Commodore Barry Pool: Flushing and Park avenues, Navy and North Elliot streets
- Douglass and DeGraw Pool: 3rd Avenue and Nevins Street
- Howard Pool: Glenmore and Mother Gaston Boulevard, East New York Avenue
- Kosciuszko Pool: Marcy Avenue between DeKalb Avenue and Kosciuszko Street
- McCarren Park Pool: McCarren Park
