Cal swimming coach Durden tabbed to lead U.S. Olympic team in 2020

In recent conversations about the future of USA Swimming, David Durden found himself in awe of the list of the legends who have coached the national team.

On Monday, his name was added to that elite group.

The Cal head coach will guide the U.S. men’s team into the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, an announcement made by USA Swimming National Team managing director Lindsay Mintenko.

“I am grateful to the swimmers I have worked with, the coaches I have stood shoulder to shoulder with, the Cal Aquatic community that has supported me, and to our Athletic Director Jim Knowlton and his leadership to help me be in this position,” said Durden, who is in his 12th season in Berkeley.
