Special Olympics GB National Games 2017 in Sheffield

Sarah Calder aged 29 who lives in Joppa and trains at Musselburgh Marlins and Lothian Racers swimming clubs made a huge splash at the recent Special Olympics GB National Games held in Sheffield representing the Special Olympics Lothian Swimming Team winning three gold medals in the individual events in the 25 metres backstroke, the 50 metres backstroke and the 50 metres freestyle all in personal best times and a silver medal with the 4x 50 metres freestyle relay team.

Seventeen regional teams with close to four hundred swimmers from across the UK came together to compete over four days at the Ponds Forge International Swimming Centre in Sheffield.

Sarah swam magnificently in winning her four medals and well deserved her success with the enthusiasm and commitment she had given to training five times a week in the pool and gym and the tremendous support she had received from her parents, her coaches and her clubs for many years.
