Rough and ready
Hello Friends,
The swell continues, and so does the wind. At 0700 the MHL buoy was seeing 2.2 metres of 10 second energy from the ESE. Wind has been SSE since yesterday morning, and as of 0900 it was 6-9 kts, so conditions were looking bumpy and messy at Dee Why point for the healthy crew chasing the head-plus sets. It’s not all time, but there’s definitely some serious energy on offer for the fit and experienced riders. Beginners and cautious intermediates, look for something more manageable in a protected location.
Outlook is for the swell to fade across the day and by tomorrow it should be into the waist to chest-high range (with the odd pluss) at the best ESE exposures. Everywhere else will likely be headed toward summery smallness as the swell heights get back into the metre range and the periods drop below the 10-second mark.
So, nothing amazing on the cards, but it should be worth taking a look for an early session into Monday.
Go well!
Weather Situation
A trough is brushing the north coast this morning, while a high passing to the south of the state extends a ridge in the wake of the trough, bringing a surge of fresh southerly winds along the coast. Winds will gradually turn easterly today, then northeasterly during the weekend through early next week, as the high enters the Tasman Sea and maintains a ridge across the coastal waters.
