Another grey and junky day for Sydney surfers

0 24

Hello Friends,

A day only for the truly keen or desperate. Spots like the Bower and Collaroy are about your only options. But, as you can see from the pictures, conditions are very choppy thanks to the 10-20 kts of unrelenting SE-ESE wind. At 0700 the Sydney buoy recorded 2.4 metres of 11-second east swell. This was translating into head to 1.5x overhead wave faces. So, were it not for the chop-inducing wind, we’d be looking at fun, solid conditions.

When will it clean up you ask?

The Goat’s Surf Forecast has, by my rough calculation, appeared well over 1000 times since he joined RealSurf only months after it started in 1996.

And, you dear readers by clicking here are the beneficiaries of his wisdom once again.

Have a great day with whatever you get up to everyone!

Forecast issued at 4:10 am EDT on Friday 7 March 2025.

Weather Situation

Tropical Cyclone Alfred [978 hPa] is moving slowly towards the southeast Queensland coast, forecast to make a coastal crossing during Saturday morning, before dissipating on Sunday. This system is bringing gale to storm force winds about the far north coast, and large powerful east to northeasterly swells. Winds and surf conditions will gradually ease Saturday after Alfred makes landfall and weakens while heading inland, with a ridge of high pressure developing along the east coast of New South Wales.
