Postcards from Crescent Head

0 27

Hello Friends,

A few piccies from Monday at Crescent Head.

Here’s how it looked when I wandered down to the point to contemplate the possibilities. Plenty of size, very consistent… but the combo east – south swell was weird. The biggest sets were just too much for the point and with very few exceptions (see pics) they were essentially uncatchable. Plus, despite the size and moderate tide setting, people were really having to work to stay in the rideable ones most of the time. If you got too far down the face, they were going too slow for you to make sections. Definitely the occasional photogenic moments obviously, however don’t be mislead.

At midday the tide had drained out and there were more people having a go. The big sets were less frequent, but a few clean-ups came through to reset the line-up. Swell still has that fat base-weak top look to it even on the head high ones. Short boards looked undergunned for the fatness. Conditions were not as picturesque as the morning either. So, putting my eggs in the late-sesh basket…

Right on sunset, I checked the point again. Simmering down a lot but there were still some of those big sets to keep things interesting…
