Marginal at best for the morning session

0 97

Hello Friends,

Only the barest hint of swell at the best exposures this morning. Wind was out of the SW at 0930 but the Bureau says it’ll be swinging south soon and picking up into the 15-25 kt range. Swell was a metre at 8 seconds from the SE as of 0800. It should get a bit bigger once the wind arrives, but the size doesn’t look like increasing significantly until tomorrow – when the wind will be S-SE 20-30 kts and the weather will be showery. Not super exciting.

The Goat seems to have wandered off on another adventure, so absent his usual words of surf wisdom, I’ll just say that it’s looking like desperates only for most spots along our coast through to Monday at least. There should be enough size to maybe push a little something into the well protected south corners on Sunday when the swell looks like peaking. But it could be mid week before the southerlies fade out enough to allow other options.

Stay safe everyone and go well with your Friday!

Weather Situation

Northeasterly winds persisting along the northern coast this morning with fresh to strong southerly change tracking up the coast as a cold front moves through, reaching the far north by the evening. An inland trough is developing in the north and will move into the Tasman later today, causing southerly winds to persist and strengthen into Saturday. A low pressure system may develop within the trough during the weekend, bringing the potential for strong to gale force winds and large waves to the northern waters.
