Seriously big

0 316

Hello Friends,

As the sun peeped over the horizon a 3.3 metre, 14 second SSE swell rumbling in along the coast. Skies were clear, the air was a brisk 10C and the wind was coming from the west at 8-12 kts. Tide was coming off the 0500 1.52 m high as it runs out to the 0.48 m low at 1110. The wind will ramp up steadily and by this afternoon should be blowing strongly at 20-30 kts from the W-SW.

The only people I saw in the water were the 30 or so at Dee Why point where sets were solidly overhead. The beaches can’t really cope with long period stuff, so you’ll be looking for the rocky bits for wave possibilities – assuming of course you are an experienced and fit rider.

This is not a day for most intermediates and obviously right off the menu for beginners.

Swell is set to pump for the holiday weekend. In fact, some models are showing it getting into the 6-7 m range tomorrow and Monday!

Go well and stay safe!

Weather Situation

A high southwest of the Great Australian Bight with a slow-moving low pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea will maintain a vigorous southwesterly flow, pushing a series of fronts and troughs over coastal waters today and Sunday. Winds will ease into the new week as the high moves east over the coast.
