Still messy under grey skies

Wednesday morning saw comparatively smooth, but very lumpy conditions in the south corners. Dee Why point was hosting a small crew who looked to be getting mostly waist high waves with the occasional shoulder-ish set. Nobody was surfing very far up the beach, but there were a few out in front of the Club. There were only a tiny number in the water along the Collaroy-Narrabeen stretch, where it seemed to be a touch bigger than at Dee Why.
As of 1030 the wind was SSE at 8-11 kts and swell out at sea was 2 metres at 10 seconds from the east. Tide hit a swampy high at 1105. Weather was overcast with the occasional shower. Ocean temp is a tropical 24C.
There should be swell around for another couple of days at least, but the NE’r is expected to be strong tomorrow and Friday, so I don’t think this swell will ever really deliver classic conditions. Weather is set to remain showery and winds onshore, right into early next week according to the Bureau.
COVID’s come home for us with my daughter now confirmed as infected. So, masks up for her mother and me, while we wait another day or so to do our rapid antigen tests… keep the mask on inside with others, this thing means business. The lack of RAT kits and the long lines at testing areas is infurating, but the way our exhausted health care workers have been left to their fate is even worse. Still waiting for leadership…

Weather Situation
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth, currently over the southern Coral Sea, is bringing strong winds over northern coastal waters. Winds and surf conditions should gradually ease today as the system slowly heads northwest towards the Queensland coast and weakens. Elsewhere, a ridge of high pressure extends across central and southern waters, with the ridge forecast to strengthen over the coming days. A trough is then expected to move through the region later in the week, bringing a southerly wind change to the southern half of the coast.
