Throwback Thursday – 1981

Alright, time to get seriously retro and take it back to mid-thigh length baggies and floral disco shirts. This Throwback Thursday we take a groovy laid back ride to 1981. To get a handle on the times, back then a brand spanking new Toyota Corolla would set you back a whopping R4879, you cant even buy an Xbox for that these days. A little taste of what happened in 1981: 1.) MTV was launched in August of 1981. Remember when it was only music television? Those were the days. 2.) The wreck of the Titanic was found. 3.) Artificial sweetener, aspartame, is approved by the FDA. It just goes to show that it’s true that liberal use of white powder in the ’80s is what led to the downfall of humanity. Anyway back to the focal point of this throwback. Noordhoek, The Hoek, we all know it and we all love it, but of late there has been some negative attention overshadowing the cooking waves this year.
