Glens Falls man convicted of attempted murder in January 2024 shooting
GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Glens Falls man has been convicted of attempted murder in connection with a shooting from early 2024. According to the Warren County District Attorney's Office, Paris Pettiford, 39, was found guilty on all charges after a two-week trial.
In January 2024, officers responded to the corner of North Pearl Street and Lawrence Street for reports of a shooting. During the investigation, the Glens Falls Police Department executed a search warrant at a home believed to be related to the shooting. During the search, officers recovered an illegally owned firearm, a high-capacity ammunition feeding device and narcotics.
As a result of the findings, a warrant for Pettiford’s arrest was issued, and he was taken into custody on January 26, 2024. He was initially charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
In April 2024, Pettiford was indicted on additional charges including attempted murder and assault. According to the Warren County District Attorney's office, during trial the victim and an eyewitness testified against Pettiford, leading to his conviction.
"Our office remains committed to pursuing justice for victims and ensuring that those who threaten public safety are held accountable," said District Attorney Carusone. "This conviction sends a strong message that violent crime will not be tolerated."
He was convicted of:
- Second-degree attempted murder
- Two counts of first-degree assault
- Two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
Pettiford is scheduled for sentencing on June 18 and is currently being held at the Warren County Jail. Pettiford faces up to 25 years in prison for the attempted murder charge.
