Victim in Amsterdam shooting dies, suspect charged
AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Police are continuing to investigate a shooting on James Street Wednesday night. Angel Morales, 30, has been charged.
On Wednesday around 7:20 p.m., the Montgomery County 911 dispatch center received numerous calls reporting shots fired near 60 James Street. When police arrived on scene, they located a 34-year-old man in the roadway.
The man was identified as Robert Green Jr. Bystanders reportedly began life saving measures on him before emergency paramedics took over. He was then transported to Albany Medical Center in serious condition.
Police said as the investigation began, it was determined that Morales had been involved, and the incident was a result of an ongoing dispute between the two. Green succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night.
Morales was interviewed by detectives and was arrested for murder in the second degree, a class A-1 felony. Police say the investigation remains ongoing and the weapon used has not been recovered.
Morales was later arraigned in Amsterdam City Court. He was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.
