Arrest made in Troy shooting that injured two girls

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Troy Police Department has made an arrest in a May 12 shooting where two girls, 11 and 14, were injured. Keovion Goodwine, 21, of Troy, was arrested on July 2.

Shortly after midnight on May 12, Troy police responded to Fourth Street near Madison Street for reports of a shooting. Once there, they found an 11-year-old and 14-year-old struck by gunfire. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they later identified Goodwine as a suspect. On July 2, they executed a search warrant at an apartment on Phelan Court in Troy and took Goodwine into custody.

  • Second-degree attempted murder
  • First-degree criminal use of a firearm
  • First-degree reckless endangerment
  • First-degree assault
  • Second-degree assault
  • Endangering the welfare of a child

Goodwine was arraigned in Troy City Court on the above charges. He was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.

"We are proud the investigative efforts put forth in this case have culminated in an arrest," said Chief of Police Daniel DeWolf. "This case was difficult and complex from the very beginning and the arrest is a testament to the tenacity of our detectives as well as the relationships we share with our community. This was a team effort, including law enforcement and members of our community."
