Cavs sign Dean Wade to two-way contract, add others to summer league squad

Wade is a 6’10” forward from Kansas State.

After picking three players in the first round, the Cavs added a few more after the draft.

As first reported by Hoops Hype’s Alex Kennedy, and confirmed by Fear the Sword, the Cavs have signed Kansas State forward Dean Wade to a two-way contract. Wade, a 22-year-old 6’10” forward, was a four-year player for the Wildcats. In his best season as a junior, he averaged 16.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game while shooting 55% from the field. In four years in college, he was a 38.6% three-point shooter, but shot above 40% each year after his freshman season.

Per a source, the Cavs will not tender two-way player Jaron Blossomgame a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Additionally, Cleveland has signed Duke center Marques Bolden to play on both its Salt Lake City and Las Vegas summer league squads. Bolden, a former five-star recruit, played three seasons at Duke and dealt with some injuries while in college. For his career, the 6’11” Bolden averaged 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.

And as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Cavs have also signed Villanova guard Phil Booth to their summer league squad. Booth, a 6’3” guard, played five years for the Wildcats and averaged 10.2 points and 2.5 assists for his career.

In 2018-19, his best season, he averaged 18.9 points and 3.8 assists per game.
