[Women's Basketball] Fourth quarter shooting woes cause opening-game stumble

After building a nine-point lead after three quarters, St. Ambrose found itself in good position to win its 2017-18 season opener.

But the Bees endured a dismal shooting performance in the fourth quarter and dropped their season opener 67-60 at Culver-Stockton Tuesday night.

Hailey Cook's basket midway through the fourth was SAU's lone made field goal of the frame. The Bees shot just 1-of-14 as a team over the final 10 minutes and watched the Wildcats sneak away with the win.

Cook's shot gave St. Ambrose a 58-52 lead and her two free throws less than a minute later kept the lead at six points at 60-54 with four minutes remaining. Those would prove to be the Bees' final points of the night.

SAU closed the game by missing its final five shots from the field and commiting four turnovers over the final four minutes as Culver-Stockton (1-0) finished with a 13-0 run.
