'Champagne sailing' and 'perfect conditions' were among the comments heard as sailors came ashore from the three-class Open Meeting held at Starcross Yacht Club on Saturday 24 June 2023. Apart from one surprise gust at the end of the first of the three races, a perfect wind allowed visitors from as far afield as the Isle of Wight and Leigh-on-Sea to display their racing skills on the water, while a steam-hauled train passing the Club on the west shore of the Estuary provided a momentary diversion for enthusiasts of a different persuasion…
