[Women's Soccer] Orenday's Two Goals Gives Hawks 3-0 Win over William Jessup

0 39

EL CAJON, Calif. – An early goal set the tone for the SDC women's soccer team against William Jessup on Saturday.

Lindsay Clover drilled home her PK attempt in the first minute and Alexia Orenday scored the last two goals as the Hawks defeated the Warriors 3-0.

The win gives the Hawks a 5-8 overall record and a 2-2 mark in conference play. The Hawks currently sit in 5th place.

A handball in the box from the Warriors gave Clover the early opportunity to give SDC an early lead and she delivered.

Orenday added her first goal of the game in the 30th minute off a pass from Veronica Romero as SDC led 2-0 at the halftime break. SDC looked to add before the break but Joanna Ortiz's two shots in the last six minutes of the half were foiled by the Jessup keeper.

SDC held WJU to just two shots in the first half. The Hawks tallied seven and all but one found the target.

The Hawks just attempted one shot before Orenday's second goal of the game. Devon Molina's header off of a corner kick went high as the game stayed at 2-0. Orenday's second goal floated over the Jessup Keeper's head far post to cap all scoring.

SDC will look to gain ground in the GSAC standings as they travel to Vanguard on Wednesday.
