Club president set to 'open talks' with Man Utd for in-form 30yo ace

Manchester United are bracing for a hectic summer overhaul after sealing their return to the UEFA Champions League.

The Red Devils are expected to be active in the market, but offloading fringe players will be just as crucial in balancing the books.

Andre Onana is one of the many players who do not have a future at Old Trafford.

The goalkeeper was shipped out on a season-long loan to Trabzonspor last summer, with Senne Lammens brought in as his replacement on deadline day.

According to The Athletic, Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan is ready to open talks with Man United to keep Onana beyond this season.

The Turkish outfit are reportedly very impressed with Onana, particularly after his heroics in a domestic cup quarter-final where he saved three penalties to knock out Samsunspor.

The 30-year-old has not given up on his United career yet.

He has two years left on his contract and believes he can fight his way back to reclaim the number one spot.

Trabzonspor are paying Onana’s full wages, which will increase next season by 25% after United return to the Champions League.

The Turkish side are unsure whether they could meet the financial demands.

They may attempt to negotiate another loan deal, but United would be wise to avoid repeating that arrangement.

Onana has already had ample opportunity to prove himself at Old Trafford but has been plagued by costly errors in key moments.

His inconsistency suggests he may no longer meet the standard required for a top Premier League club, particularly one with United’s ambitions.

Lammens has firmly established himself with a string of assured and commanding performances this season.

Radek Vitek has also impressed during his loan spell at Bristol City and looks ready to step up to the first team.

There is no room left for Onana and Altay Bayindir at the Theatre of Dreams.
