Tottenham injury update as Roberto De Zerbi assesses squad before Sunderland clash

The Tottenham Hotspur boss has now provided an injury update on his squad ahead of their clash against Sunderland.

Spurs come into this encounter in poor form, winless this year and without a victory in their last twenty league outings.

A single point is the difference between Tottenham and the bottom three, but they could be in the relegation zone before they kick a ball, should West Ham United beat Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday night.

De Zerbi, however, will need his players fit and firing if he is to take all three points at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

But he still has some injuries to contend with heading into the weekend’s game. James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma and Ben Davies all remain sidelined.

Mathys Tel returned to training last week but Mohammed Kudus suffered a setback and could not miss the rest of the season if he requires surgery.

Pape Matar Sarr is also an absentee after picking up a knock while on international duty. The new Tottenham manager has now provided a fitness update on his squad while speaking to the official Tottenham channels:

De Zerbi said (Football London): “I started with not big luck! Kudus was in my head a crucial player, especially for the position. But we have to look forward. I think we have a lot of very good attackers.

“Vicario is not ready for this game. I hope he can come back next week, but I don’t know yet. Bentancur is working with us, but not completely, but we have enough to fight, to play, to make points.”
