Hibs Career In Numbers: Martin Boyle

0 0

Martin Boyle reached 400 Hibernian FC appearances versus Motherwell last weekend, so we dug deep into the archives to take a closer look at the numbers from his stellar career at the Club to date!

108… Goals

Over his long-lasting time at the Club, Boyle has found the net over 100 times – becoming the 11th highest scoring player in Hibernian history. With 108 goals in green and white, he stands just six goals short of 10th-place Arthur Duncan’s tally.

‘Boyler’ has scored 81 times in league competition for the Hibees – placing him 10th on Hibs’ all-time league scorers list.

Scoring 18 times across domestic cup competitions, he grabbed his singular hat-trick for the Club in the Scottish League Cup – firing in a memorable first-half treble at Hampden Park in a semi-final stage victory over Rangers in November 2021.

As for Europe…

9… Record-Breaking Goals In Europe

With 99 domestic-based strikes, Boyle’s remaining nine goals were scored in continental competition – with the forward becoming our all-time top scorer in Europe earlier this season!

He has bagged three braces in UEFA Conference League qualifiers, most recently netting twice against Partizan last August to level the previous scoring record of eight goals held by Pat Stanton, Alan Gordon and Joe McBride.

His first on the night in Serbia saw him secured his '100 Club' status at Hibs, with his 100th goal for the Club a smart finish from a well-worked set-piece routine.

The striker grabbed his record-breaking ninth goal in European competition against Legia Warsawa in the next round, firing in a smart half-volley in Poland to claim the record all to himself.

71… Assists

Whilst leading the line for Hibs, the talismanic Boyle has also chipped in with 71 assists for the Club – bringing his total goal contribution tally to 179.

Twice providing personal season-high assist totals for Hibs in the Premiership, supplying seven assists across both the 2017/18 and 2020/21 seasons, Martin also nabbed six assists in one League Cup campaign during the 2017/18 campaign.

20… Goals In One Season

Boyle’s best goal-scoring season was during our 2024/25 campaign, with the striker notching up 20 goals across our thrilling campaign.

In the Premiership, the goals started truly flowing after a three-goal start in the first half of the season. As our form picked up, Boyle became a goal scoring force after Christmas – starting with back-to-back braces against Rangers and Motherwell.

A four-game scoring streak followed weeks later, finding the back of the net against Hearts, Kilmarnock, St Johnstone and Rangers before yet another four-match streak followed to end the season after the split; with Boyler finishing the season on 15 league goals.

250… Shared Appearances With A Teammate

Boyle has shared the pitch with many players at Hibs – 161, to be exact – but he represented Hibs with no-one else on more occasions than Paul Hanlon.

The pair shared the pitch together 250 times while both were at the Club – winning promotion and the Scottish Cup together – with Lewis Stevenson (239) and Joe Newell (154 and counting) next on the list.

9… Goals Versus One Club

From his 108 goals in Hibs colours, Boyle has found the net nine times against St Mirren – more than against any other club – with his most recent strike against the Buddies occurring on matchday four of last season’s Premiership campaign.

Other clubs could still overtake the Paisley side by this season’s end; with Aberdeen, Livingston, Motherwell and Rangers all conceding eight times each to our number 10.

4… Derby Day Strikes

Boyle was on target four times in Edinburgh Derbies across the years.

His ‘comeback’ equaliser off the bench at Easter Road in August 2022 will live long in the memory of all Hibees in attendance, coming off the bench off the back of his return from Saudi Arabian club Al-Faisaly to bag a stoppage-time equaliser.

His first-half brace against Hearts during our 2019 Boxing Day win sparked brilliant away day scenes in Gorgie, while his most recent Edinburgh Derby strike helped Hibs to a 2-1 home victory in March 2025.

39… International Caps

Of his 39 Australia caps, 33 of Boyle’s senior international appearances have come while contracted to the Club – with scoring all 10 of his international goals as a Hibs player, also.

Capped for the first time in November 2018, as a substitute against South Korea, the Aberdeen-born forward would then score twice and assist once against Lebanon in his second appearance later that month.

Unfortunate to miss out on the last World Cup due to injury, Boyle is now preparing for this summer’s tournament in North America with the Socceroos.

1… Scottish Cup

Boyle played his part in our historic 2015/16 Scottish Cup triumph in his first season at the Club, making three appearances en route to our triumph over Rangers in the final at Hampden Park.

Substitute showings against Raith Rovers and Hearts, in the fourth round and fifth round replay, respectively, were followed up by a pivotal involvement in our Semi-Final win over Dundee United.

Introduced off the bench, Boyle would crucially slam in our third penalty of our 4-2 shoot-out win to help seal our spot in the final – which we unforgettably won against Rangers in dramatic fashion.

400… Hibs Appearances

With 108 goals, 71 assists and two trophies to his name, Boyle hits the 400-mark for Hibs as a favourite amongst the Hibs faithful.

He becomes only the 16th player in the Club’s history to reach 400 Hibs appearances and has time to add to his tally before departing the Club this summer.
