‘It’s what the fans want’ – Danny Murphy predicts what Tottenham will do next amid ‘impossibility’

0 14

Danny Murphy has predicted whether Tottenham Hotspur will stick with Igor Tudor rather than make yet another managerial change with just seven league games left to go this season.

Tottenham Hotspur are now in a terminal position following their 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, which has left the Lilywhites staring at the abyss of relegation.

Relegation to the Championship will have devastating financial consequences for Spurs, and it could take many years for the club to recover from the nightmare.

Tottenham have not won a game in the Premier League for nearly three months, but a pundit believes that the club can still save their season by rolling the dice once again.

Danny Murphy claims it is ‘impossible’ for Igor Tudor to stay at Tottenham

With the international break now coming up, all eyes are on Spurs to see whether they consider making yet another managerial change, just over a month after replacing Thomas Frank with Igor Tudor.

Murphy believes that Spurs have no choice but to get rid of Tudor immediately, suggesting that the environment at the club has now turned ‘toxic’.

Following Forest’s 3-0 win at N17 on Sunday, the former Tottenham midfielder told BBC Match of the Day: “I think it’s impossible for him to stay. I really do. I think it’s really difficult for the players to play in an environment that’s so deflated and toxic.

“The only way you can change that is either winning games which they’re not doing, or change a manager – what the fans want. If they keep him in charge – it’s five league games without a win. A new guy comes in, gets one win, all of sudden, it can turn quickly. I think it’s a risk worth taking and I think they’ll take it.

“The players don’t really look like they’re at it. They’ve had a couple of decent performances this week and maybe people thought that the corner had been turned, but confidence was low again after they conceded. He made two changes at half-time and that didn’t make them any better. If anything, they got worse as the second half went on.”

What the Spurs heirarchy are thinking about Tudor’s future

According to reports, Murphy’s intuition is correct, with the Tottenham interim boss’s position becoming untenable after Sunday’s defeat.

This is according to Football Insider, who claim that Spurs see the international break as a perfect opportunity to sack Tudor, and bring a new manager through the door.

However, a huge amount is now riding on the club’s decision, as the new man will just have seven matches to avert the biggest disaster in Tottenham’s history for the last half-century.
