Boyle On Reaching 400 Hibs Appearances

0 1

Martin Boyle reached 400 appearances for Hibernian FC in a tightly contested 0–0 draw with Motherwell, with the forward expressing his pride at the milestone.

The Fir Park encounter saw both teams limited to few clear-cut chances, with Hibs’ best effort a teasing volley from Boyle that just looped over the bar.

Speaking on the achievement with Hibs TV after the match, the 32-year-old revealed his delight in reaching a “great” landmark figure for the Club.

“I’m very appreciative. I've worked extremely hard through my Hibs career. I have always gave my all for the club.

“It's a great milestone for me. My family are really proud. I appreciate all the support that I've had through the years.

“Obviously, I've been through a lot. I've been through a lot of knee surgeries as well. Looking back (with injuries in mind), it could have been more for the Club.

“But like I say, I'm really appreciative and, hopefully, I can get a couple more.”

The match itself failed to live up to the occasion as both sides struggled to craft opportunities in the opposition box throughout.

Boyle believed the result was a fair reflection of the game, but is hopeful it will be a “good point” to have by the campaign’s conclusion.

“It was a tough game. They've got some really top quality players that can keep the ball well, but I thought we limited their chances.

“It could have been a different story if the volley went in. But like I say, we grafted away, we worked hard.

“It could be a good point at the end of the season, considering their run of form at the moment and their record here.”

The stalemate maintains the six-point gap between the two sides, and Boyle is optimistic that we can rise up the table ahead of our final seven games.

“We've still got to play Motherwell again. We know it’s achievable. We have belief in the dressing room, if we keep working hard.

“The top six will be very tough but we believe that a good run of games, it's not impossible to catch them.

“We have to keep believing, keep sticking together, and hopefully we can.”
