90% passing: Casemiro now wants Man Utd to sign £35m star to replace him

0 1

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has told the club’s hierarchy to consider Wolverhampton Wanderers star Andre as his replacement this summer, according to The Sun.

Casemiro’s contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season, and the club have already confirmed that the Brazilian star will make way on a free transfer.

Amidst this, the 34-year-old has recommended the United board to pursue a deal for compatriot Andre, who has been a mainstay in Wolves’ midfield over the past few years.

Andre has endured a tough campaign at the Midlands outfit, who are rock-bottom of the Premier League, but Casemiro believes he would be a quality addition to United’s ranks.

United captain Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha have also endorsed the potential move.

Andre would not represent a marquee signing

The 24-year-old is a hard-working midfielder with a tireless work rate. He has impressed with his distribution, completing 90 percent of his passes in the top-flight season.

Andre has also made six recoveries and two tackles per outing, with almost two clearances. He is likewise good with the ball at his feet and has lost possession less than seven times per game.

Despite the positives, Andre tends to make unforced errors. He has made five errors leading to shots this term. One of those came against United at home in December, resulting in a goal.

Andre’s height is another noticeable concern. At 176cm, he has a genuine weakness in the air. He has won just three aerial duels during the course of the league campaign.

With Kobbie Mainoo not among the tallest (175cm) or aerially dominant midfielders, United need to complement him with a marquee signing who can win regular aerial duels.

Andre could be prised away for around £35 million, as per The Sun, but he should not be United’s marquee signing to replace Casemiro during the summer transfer window.

The former Fluminense man would be a good secondary midfield signing instead.
