Mixed Emotions For Burchill After Scoring Return

0 29

While pleased with individual milestones, Tiree Burchill was still "disappointed" to not pick up all three points against Rangers on Wednesday evening.

The Hibs Women forward made her first start since early January after suffering an injury setback against Celtic in the Scottish Cup following two substitute appearances in recent weeks.

Thrilled to start the match, the 21-year-old scored our second goal of the game - nodding in excellently at the back post - following Kathleen McGovern's opener.

Unfortunately, for a second time on the night, Rangers would soon equalise to nullify the attacker's strike. While frustrated by the end result, Burchill admitted her excitement at her scoring return at the time of the goal.

"Overall, it feels like two points dropped more than one point gained," Burchill told Hibs TV after the match.

"I think for large spells we were dominant and in control so I think not being able to capitalise on that to keep the lead is quite disappointing.

"I think (the goal) eased the pressure on myself. I was very happy to see the ball go in the back of the net.

"I was delighted to get the goal but I didn't mean anything really in the end up because we only got the one point."

The attacker now looks ahead to our third match in eight days, as we take on city rivals Hearts at Oriam this Sunday (22 March).

"I'm so excited. I think the best way to get over this result tonight is playing another game.

"Even though we've only got the point tonight, I think we showed really good moments.

"I think carrying that into Sunday is what we're going to look to do and hopefully we get the three points on Sunday."
