Elding On Settling In & Scoring Start
Owen Elding reveals he is looking to learn from the wealth of 'attacking quality' within the Hibernian squad as he continues to settle in Leith.
The 20-year-old has made a promising start to life at Hibs after signing for the Club in late January; quickly making his mark with a terrific header on his first start versus St Mirren before scoring last time out against Dundee.
Speaking to the media ahead of our William Hill Premiership match against Livingston, the young forward stated he was quickly finding his feet in the capital and is striving to keep adjusting to the Scottish game.
"I’m settling in really well. I'm quite happy with the start I've made. In four appearances, I've scored twice now.
"I probably could have had a couple more as well, but that's the life of a striker. You've just got to take the next chance that always comes.
"It's a lot quicker than what I'm used to. I'm still adapting, obviously. I've only been in the door a couple of weeks, but I feel like I'm adapting nicely and there's more to come.
"There's obviously a lot of differences (between Irish and Scottish football), but there's a lot of similar stuff as well. Obviously, the physicality of the game, that was over in the Irish league as well. I've got a bit of adapting to do, but I feel like I've started strong.
"Jamie (McGrath) has been really good. He obviously helped me settle in, showed me around the place and all that. So obviously, having a fellow Irishman here to work with every day is good."
Whilst settling in off the pitch with the help of his teammates, Elding is also looking at his peers in pursuit of progression on the park.
With a number of experienced attacking options to learn from, the striker has noted his willingness to continue improving his own game and build on his 'quick start' with the Club.
"As a striker, you want to get off the mark as quick as you can. Obviously, I did that on my first start and hopefully there's more to come.
"There's a lot of attacking quality in the squad. Martin (Boyle), there's Dane (Scarlett), Ante (Šuto), Elie (Youan). There's a lot of options. Loads of experience as well.
"I can only take the benefits from all them lads, and try and add it to my game."
