Washington Spirit Sells Out Home Opener in Fastest Selling Regular Season Match in Club History
Washington, D.C. (03/13/2025) – The Washington Spirit has sold out tonight’s home opener in the fastest selling regular season match in club history, with the match selling out in less than two months after tickets went on sale in mid-January, the club announced today. 19,215 tickets have been sold as the Spirit open up their 2026 season on Friday evening against Portland Thorns FC.
The 2026 season opener marks the second-straight season Audi Field has been sold out for the first home match of the season and the third-straight home game the Spirit have sold out, with both playoff games last season drawing full stadiums.
The Spirit has now had 11 of the top 17 attendance marks in club history in the last calendar year, dating back to last year’s home opener sellout on March 22. Last season, the Spirit became only the fourth women’s soccer club in the world to average over 15,000 fans per match, seeing close to 237,000 people come through the gates at Audi Field.
Friday’s home opener will be the first of 15 regular season home matches for the 2026 season as the Spirit look to reach their third-consecutive championship game. Ticket packages for the rest of this year’s home slate are available here.
