I spoke to a lady from Deloitte at one of the exhibitions who was heavily involved in the whole Etihad campus development. She said stuff would filter out regarding other buildings and facilities that will be at the SQ throughout this year. However Planning will not be submitted until the Autumn, as it’s such a huge site and we’re developing, what in effect, is a “Mini City”.
She said a development of this size and complexity would normally take 2-3 years minimum to submit full planning but TW has thrown so much resource and people at it, to get it done in a fraction of the time.
This period was always going to feel as though nothing’s happening. Patience is needed and once Planning is in and approved- it will move at pace and we’ll be seeing new developments every week.
One thing we can all do is sign up to the SQ website, follow their channels on Social media and interact with them. They are posting stuff all the time and asking for opinions but there are hardly ever any responses or likes or reposts. From speaking to the consultants at the exhibition-I know it was really important to them that they get some engagement but it looks like no one’s interested at the moment!
