Hibs U19s To Host St Mirren

0 2

The wee Hibees continue their CAS Elite U19 League Cup group stage campaign on Tuesday 3 March at HTC; 3pm kick-off.

Fixtures

  • Hibernian U19s Vs. St Mirren U19s - Tue, Mar 03 2026, 15:00

THE LOWDOWN

Darren McGregor’s side have enjoyed a 100% start to the League Cup, winning all three games so far in the competition.

Two-goal margin victories over St Mirren and Rangers were followed up by a convincing 4-0 home win over Motherwell last midweek.

Dean Cleland had the simplest of finishes to put the youngsters ahead after Luke Davidson snatched possession away from the ‘Well inside their own half, before Zach Bruce fired in our second just before the break.

Jamie McMurdo would lash in low beyond Jack McConnell to extend our lead further prior to Reiss Downie slotting in a fourth after being neatly set up by substitute Jay Gallacher.

The three victories leaves Hibs top of the group at the halfway stage, and are now in a promising position to progress to the semi-finals.

THE VISITORS

St Mirren have faced off against Hibs U19s twice so far this season, once in the league and once in the League Cup.

Our league encounter in September finished a 2-2 draw at the SMiSA Stadium. The hosts twice went ahead on the day, but goals from Josh McDonald and Kanayo Megwa twice levelled proceedings in Paisley.

The most recent meeting between the two teams occurred in mid-December at K-Park, with a frustrating afternoon for the wee Hibees still ending in victory.

Buddies midfielder Struan Thompson was sent off early on in the contest and Hibs would control the match, though a goal continued to evade McGregor’s side while Ryan Mallon was forced to pull off a terrific penalty save to keep out the 10-man hosts.

The deadlock would be broken on 77 minutes through McDonald – with the midfielder picking out the top corner with a tidy curling finish – before Cleland fired in a second Hibs goal with the last kick of the game.
