Beuzelin 'Very Happy' With 4-0 Victory

0 0

Guillaume Beuzelin was "very happy" with Hibernian U19s' terrific 4-0 victory over Motherwell in the CAS Elite Youth League Cup.

First-half strikes from Dean Cleland and Zach Bruce were followed up by Jamie McMurdo and Reiss Downie goals after the break to make sure the wee Hibees' winning start to the group stage continued.

After a slow start in which chances were few and far between, Hibs would soon take complete control of the tie to seal the win and extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to four matches.

"It was good. We scored four goals, didn't concede any," 'Boozy' told Hibs TV. "That puts us in a good position in the cup.

"The performance was good from start to finish. Tricky conditions with the wind, but very, very happy overall.

"Our forwards both scored, I think each of them scored a goal. Plus our two centre-mids, which is very pleasing.

"Just maybe missing one goal from set-pieces, it's something we need to bring up. Last year, we scored a few set-pieces - this year, not as much. Maybe I'm over-critical, but I'm very happy today.

Several regular starters missed out through injury on Tuesday afternoon, allowing for a number of younger players to start and appear off the bench.

Beuzelin is pleased the opportunity arose for certain talents - such as Oliver Waldman, who came off the bench to make his second U19s appearance of the season.

"It's all about opportunities. We have six or seven players that cannot play, that could not play today due to injuries, but they're coming back soon.

"We asked Oli to leave school this afternoon. He came on and I thought he'd done well. It was an experience for the young lad there.

The wee Hibees' 100% record in the League Cup group stage has put them in prime position to progress to the next stage of the competition, and Beuzelin is keen to go all the way and secure silverware.

"It's a group of four and the top two go through, so I think we are in a strong position. I think if we finish top, we can host the semi-final, and we know we are very strong here at HTC.

"It's a competition we're involved in, and like every competition, Hibs wants to win it, so I can't see why not."
