Woking vs Solihull Moors

Enterprise National League

Wednesday 25th February

19:45 Kick-Off

A rare Wednesday night under the floodlights sees the Cards back on home turf, as they welcome Solihull Moors to the Laithwaite Community Stadium, looking to bounce back from Saturday afternoon’s defeat at Rochdale.

Indeed, two first-half goals, followed by a second-half penalty for Rochdale, saw the Cards suffer defeat at the Crown Oil Arena, with the three points crucial for the Dale as it saw them retain the top spot.

Having lost consecutive clashes for the first time this year, Woking will certainly be looking to replicate the result of the reverse fixture, a 3-0 win for the Cards. Also a midweek game, second-half goals from Sanderson, Drewe, and Kelly saw Woking victorious, the start of a ten-game unbeaten league run for the Cards.

Woking also came out on top the last time they hosted the Moors, a little over a year ago on February 19th, 2025, with Ward’s 18th-minute header the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory.

At present, just four points separate the two sides in a tight mid-table, crucially with Woking pocketting games in hand over those ahead of them.

A visiting club with history for Ardley, he led Solihull to their second-highest finish in club history in the 2021/22 campaign, with them claiming third, and subsequently making the play-off final, where they lost out to Grimsby Town.

Opposition Watch

Last time out, the Moors, hosting Hartlepool, fell to the wrong side of a high-scoring 4-3 clash. A dramatic fixture saw an early penalty, followed by an own goal, give Solihull a 2-0 lead, which Hartlepool chalked off before the half, with two goals just before the break.

It was then an 84th-minute goal that saw Hartlepool take the lead, with their fourth coming 11 minutes into injury time. Solihull were to net once more, in the 15th minute of a lengthy stoppage time period, but ultimately it was too late for the Moors to salvage a point.

The defeat means that they are yet to win a game in February, with their last win coming away from home against Morecambe on January 24th.

However, they do travel to Surrey with a recent away form which has seen them lose just one of their last five fixtures on the road.

With a Saturday afternoon trip to Scunthorpe following their trip to Surrey, the Moors have just two more attempts to earn a victory in February, and thus they strive to claim all three points on Wednesday evening.

One to Watch

Ben Worman begins the matchday amongst those ranked highest in the National League for the number of assists this season, showing his influence from midfield.

Indeed, only two have tallied more assists than him this campaign: Rochdale’s Tobi Adebayo-Rowling and Eastleigh’s Archie Harris, who both have nine to their names.

Having joined from Gateshead in the summer, he has amassed plenty of National League experience, with the highest number of appearances for Gateshead last term, as well as lifting the FA Trophy with the club in May 2024, as the side defeated his then future club of Solihull on penalties.

Now a key player for the Moors, he will hope to continue his influence midweek, driving goalscoring opportunities from midfield.
