Match Report: Chelmsford City

0 0

There was little to choose between the two sides early on and as the first half progressed, Chelmsford started to dominate. With 30 minutes played, a corner from Jason Adigun was headed just over the bar by Joe Grimwood.

Sonnie Davis then cut inside the sliding Riley Court, allowing him to deliver a dangerous cross. Jett Murphy was on the end of it but his header went wide.

Chelmsford continued to press and Harry Barbrook found Adigun who was just outside the box. Adigun went for goal and his rising effort cleared the bar.

Then with the interval a minute away, Taylor put a low delivery across the area to Barbrook. Barbrook hit the ball well enough but he was denied by a decent block by Nathan Harness.

The game continued in a similar vein after the break. Adigun got a sight of goal but couldn’t hit the target before Harness was called into action to tip a fierce drive from Ricky Homes over the bar.

But with 59 minutes gone, Chelmsford did break the deadlock. Murphy found Adigun who tricked his way into the box before picking out Taylor who finished from close range.

Both sides made a number of substitutes as the game worn on. One of these, Jamie Odegah got in behind the Maidstone defence but the angle was tight and he shot straight at Harness.

Just as it looked like the Stones were going to be beaten, Carvalho grabbed a equaliser five minutes into stoppage time. TJ Bramble did well to move into space and he passed to substitute Jamie Yila who played the ball to Muhammadu Faal. Faal put a low cross into the six-yard box where substitute Deon Moore was on hand to get a touch and Carvalho showed a strikers instinct as he smashed the ball into the net.
