Nathan header gives Bay win at Barry

0 2

A SECOND half header from Nathan Peate gave Colwyn Bay a 1-0 victory away to Barry Town and close to within two points of fourth-placed Caernarfon Town.

An excellent day for the travelling Bay fans and the result avenges the home defeat to Barry in November.

The Bay started strongly with a couple of early chances asAeron Edwards had a close range strike blocked and home keeper George Ratcliffe gathered a Nathan Peate header.

Alex Brown madea good save from Ieuan Owen in a Barry break, but the Bay created more good chances with Jordan Davies shooting into the side-netting after great work by Matty Hill down the right, and Nathan Peate heading just wide from a George Hughes cross.

The only goal of the game came on 49 minutes with Nathan Peate guiding a header into the corner of the net, from Matty Hill’s long throw, for his the big defender’s fifth goal of campaign, after Georg Hughes had a driven a shot over the bar.

Bay then defended well as Barry sought an equaliser and come home with a first clean sheet in six games and three excellent points.
