Bruins Focused On Getting Two Points Against Lightning In Stadium Series Game
The Boston Bruins know playing an outdoor game is special, but the team is just focused on the task at hand.
Boston is set to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, with puck drop set for 6:30 p.m. ET. Although playing an outdoor game is a spectacle, the Bruins know the focus is on the game and picking up an important two points against their division rival.
“That’s the biggest goal is leaving here with two points,” Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman said after practice on Saturday. “And playing a really high-quality game, so I think that adds to the elements with the outdoor game, the hype around it, the people that are going to be here, and obviously what the meaning of the game is.”
The Bruins and Lightning have both been two of the best teams in the NHL for over a month, so Boston knows getting the win won’t be easy.
Boston defenseman Charlie McAvoy, meanwhile, is eager to play in another outdoor game, but the goal is to silence the crowd to get a road win.
“It’s very cool that we get a chance to be part of so many of these, and every one of them is special in its own way,” McAvoy said. “So I’m looking forward to taking a second tomorrow to take it all in when we’re out there.”
The Bruins enter play with a record of 32-20-3 and are holding onto the final wild card spot. Boston enters the game going 8-1-1 in its last 10 games and is coming off a 6-3 home win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.
Puck-drop for the Stadium Series game on Sunday is set for 6:30 p.m. ET. The Bruins vs. Lightning game will air nationally on ESPN. The game will also be available to stream on the ESPN app.
