‘Class’, ‘Boooom’: Rio Ferdinand & Sam Allardyce praise Man Utd star who won 100% duels vs Arsenal

Manchester United jumped into the top four of the Premier League after a 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Red Devils went into the game as potential underdogs, but prevailed with a hard-fought victory over the league leaders.

Matheus Cunha bagged the crucial winner on the day, but it was Harry Maguire who was handed the man of the match by Sky Sports.

The centre-back had a top-notch outing in the Manchester derby this month as the Red Devils picked up a convincing 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.

The Englishman stood out with another fine performance yesterday. He won 100 percent of his ground and aerial duels (5/5) against Mikel Arteta’s side.

Maguire also made nine clearances, two recoveries and a solitary tackle for the Red Devils, who have now won back-to-back matches under interim boss Michael Carrick.

Shortly after the victory, Maguire posted on his Instagram account. Rio Ferdinand described his performance as ‘Boooom’ in the comments section.

Former Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce also hailed two excellent performances from Maguire on Instagram and said he is a ‘top-class defender‘.

United are currently fourth in the league standings with 38 points on the board, one ahead of Chelsea and two in front of arch-rivals Liverpool, who lost to Bournemouth away from home.

The Red Devils host Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in the next three league games, with two of those being at Old Trafford. They have a chance to build a winning streak.

With no European commitments or Cup competitions, the club have only the league to concentrate on and have a brilliant opportunity to qualify for the Champions League next season.
