Tottenham star says fans are ‘entitled to be angry’ but he has a plan to change things

0 3

Pedro Porro has reflected on the discontent of the Tottenham fan base this season and the club’s win over Borussia Dortmund.

There have been several flash points between the Tottenham fans and players this season, particularly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The team has been regularly booed off at half-time, and there were even chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ directed at Thomas Frank last week.

One senior Tottenham man has now reflected on the anger directed at the players from the stands.

Pedro Porro understands Tottenham fans’ anger

The Tottenham right-back has been at the centre of a storm on a couple of occasions, most notably after the team’s defeat to Fulham in December.

After that game, Porro was angered when Lucas Bergvall decided to applaud the fans, with the Spaniard shouting at his teammate before heading straight down the tunnel.

Porro took issue with the Spurs fans booing Guglielmo Vicario and even suggested that true Tottenham fans will not do such a thing.

However, the Spaniard has now admitted that he understands the frustrations of the supporters, given how things have gone on the pitch this season.

Speaking after Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund, Porro told AS (as translated by Sport Witness): “It’s important to win because you look at bad spells differently. I also think that’s just how football is. When you don’t get results, people have their opinions, and they’re perfectly entitled to be angry.

“Obviously, we always try to give our best, but sometimes things don’t go your way, and you have to keep working so that, above all, they do, like today.”

Porro determined to build on Spurs’ win over Borussia Dortmund

The 26-year-old confessed that the win on Tuesday came as a much-needed boost for the team’s morale and admitted that he and his teammates want to build on the result.

The former Sporting Lisbon man was also delighted that the Spurs fans were behind the team for 90 minutes.

Porro added on Tottenham’s most recent win: “Very happy. We were coming off some bad results in the league, so these three points today are very important. They also help boost the team’s confidence a bit. We’re fourth in the top eight and we just have to finish it off in the last match in Germany. And on Saturday, we continue in the league.

“In an important match, when we needed the three points the most, the fans were with us, and with the coach too, and that’s the most important thing. To stay together and focused on this path, because we still have a lot to achieve.”
