Fullkrug suffers new injury 106 minutes into Milan career
New Milan signing Niclas Fullkrug is set for another spell on the sidelines, as the German international has reportedly fractured his toe after just 106 minutes of Serie A action.
Milan dealt another attacking injury blow
Fullkrug became the first new arrival of the Serie A January transfer window when he joined Milan on loan with an option to buy from West Ham United on January 2.
The Germany international had been training with the Rossoneri for the week leading up to his move, was unveiled on January 2 and made his Serie A debut later on the same evening during a 1-0 win away against Cagliari.
He then appeared off the bench for a second game in a row during Milan’s 1-1 draw against Genoa in San Siro, and then lined up as a starter for Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.
However, according to reports from multiple outlets in Italy, Fullkrug fractured his toe towards the end of his full Milan debut against Fiorentina, and is now facing a spell on the treatment table after just 106 minutes of Serie A football.
It remains to be seen for how long the 32-year-old will be unavailable, but he is expected to miss Thursday’s Serie A clash away against Como. Sky Sport Italia had initially reported that Fullkrug would be out of action for several weeks, but now suggest that the injury is not quite as severe as first thought, and that he will attempt to return in time to face Lecce on Sunday. Milannews.it claims that the German is a major doubt for the weekend.
This is still a big blow for Milan, who could also have to do without Rafael Leao against Como as well. Santiago Gimenez also remains out injured long term.
