Multiple outlets in Italy are reporting that Roma are closing in on their first signing of the January transfer window: That of promising teenage striker Robinio Vaz from Olympique de Marseille.
Roma closing in on Robinio Vaz signing
Roma have made little secret of the fact that they are on the lookout for new attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window. As things stand, Gian Piero Gasperini is without a centre-forward for Tuesday’s Coppa Italia match against Torino with injuries to both Evan Ferguson and Artem Dovbyk.
The situation could soon be about to change, however, as the likes of Gianluca Di Marzio, Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Roma are ‘very close’ to the signing of 18-year-old striker Robinio Vaz.
The France youth international has become a regular off the bench for Roberto De Zerbi’s side in Ligue 1 this campaign, and is currently averaging a league goal every 93 minutes with four goals to his name from 373 minutes so far in 2025-26.
According to Monday’s reports, Roma and Marseille are still discussing the formula of the deal, whether that be a loan with an option to buy, a loan with an obligation to buy, or even a potential permanent deal in January.
What is known is that the deal is expected to cost somewhere in the region of €25m including a potential buy option.
