Red Sox Pitcher Kutter Crawford Gives Positive Injury Update

One year after leading all Boston Red Sox pitchers in games started, innings pitched and strikeouts, right-hander Kutter Crawford missed the entire 2025 campaign due to a wrist injury.

The Red Sox avoided arbitration with Crawford on Tuesday by signing the 29-year-old to a one-year, $2.75 million contract for the 2026 season.

Crawford gave a positive update on his injury status on Saturday.

“Kutter Crawford says he’s fully healthy and he threw off the mound for the first time this offseason yesterday,” Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald posted on Bluesky.

“Kutter Crawford pitched off the mound this week for the first time since coming back from his injuries,” the Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham added on Bluesky. “It was yesterday at BC. Said he felt fine. Ready to ramp up and compete for a spot in the rotation.”

The former 16th-round pick will face plenty of competition for a spot in the starting rotation.

Boston returns ace Garrett Crochet and 26-year-old right-hander Brayan Bello among others and the Red Sox added three-time All-Star Sonny Gray and 27-year-old Johan Oviedo to the mix over the offseason as well.
