Bruins Call Loss To Kraken ‘Waste Of An Opportunity’ Amidst Playoff Chase
The Boston Bruins suffered a 7-4 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday to end their road trip disappointingly.
Boston was coming off back-to-back wins and was 2-1-1 on the road trip entering the game against Seattle. The Bruins were looking to end their road trip on a high note, but the team struggled, and head coach Marco Sturm is hopeful the team can learn from the loss.
“We just totally got away,” Sturm said on Tuesday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “We made the mistakes, and they just played nothing really special, but they played the right way and led us to the mistakes.
“Unfortunately, it cost us two big points. Hopefully we learn from that one.”
Bruins forward David Pastrnak, meanwhile, said the loss was a waste of an opportunity to end the road trip on a high note and continue its chase for a playoff spot.
”There’s no excuse to be tired,” Pastrnak said. “We had plenty of days and rest. We should’ve been the fresher team, at times we were, but we made a lot of mistakes. Waste of an opportunity to close out the trip.”
With the loss, the Bruins fell to 22-19-2 and are three points out of a playoff spot. Boston will return to the ice on Thursday at home against the Calgary Flames.
“It will be great to see the family and be back in Boston,” Charlie McAvoy concluded about returning home. “We’ve got to have a really good homestand here.”
