QPR U18 (5) – AFC Bournemouth U18 (1)

0 0

U18 Professional Development League 2

Team: Fittall, Sandiford, Adjetey-Brew, Balogun, Majesty, Wiles, Kennedy, Neziri, Wright, Trujillo, Scarlett

Subs: Taylor, Moore, Brunson, McAvoy, Oluwabusola

A heavy downpour preceded the 12.45pm kick-off at Heston, but it suddenly stopped as we made our way to watch the match.

Enis Neziri was put through just two minutes into the game, and his shot was chested away by Hayden McGhan.

It was the Cherries who took the lead a few minutes later, after Alfie Fittall had tried playing the ball out from his area, and Joe Spence was well-placed to take full advantage.

However, Rangers equalised in the 10th minute when Josh Wright’s side-footed attempt bobbled into the corner.

The R’s went on to take the lead following a good passage of play down the left-flank and Ashley Trujillo then did the rest.

At the other end, Leyland Waite, received a rebound in a widish position, but he then shot wide of the target.

Cory Adjetey-Brew was left grounded after being fouled by Leyland Waite, but after some attention the R’s full-back was able to continue.

It became 3-1 around the 20-minute mark, when Josh Wright knocked the ball in from just outside the six-yard box.

There was no let-up from the home side as they continued to look for more goals. Ashley Trujillo’s close-range shot was saved, which was soon followed by Hayden McGhan making a very good stop from Leon Scarlett.

Breezy, but the rain had continued to hold off and at the interval it remained 3-1.

There was a brief shower during the break, but it brightened up on the resumption of play.

The first real opportunity of the second-half was created by the visitors. Following a good run by Joe Spence, the Cherries No.8 then set up Leyland Waite, but his shot ended-up wide of the target.

Tom Charles’ first change came when Shaquille Sandiford made way for James McAvoy.

Then a few minutes later, Gabriel Oluwabusola and Kalen Brunson were introduced at the expense of Leon Scarlett and Josh Wright respectively.

Later after Cory Adjetey-Brew had been booked, Kyreece Moore replaced Rico Kennedy.

Although Kalen Brunson was clearly knocked down in the box, Mr Calver wasn’t interested!

Then, after Gabriel Oluwabusola’s low-strike was saved, the ball came back into play before going behind for a corner.

With around 12 minutes remaining, Hayden McGhan made a good save after Kalen Brunson’s shot had received a slight deflection.

Two minutes later, a Enis Neziri tap-in from just inside the six-yard box, made it 4-1.

The final goal came in the closing stages from the penalty spot after Kyreece Moore was brought down in the box.

Gabriel Oluwabusola stepped up and following quite a long run-up, he placed the ball in the corner.

It was FA Youth Cup action next, when Tom Charles’s side took on Oxford City at Loftus Road.
