Brennan Johnson will love what Tottenham fans did to salute him on Thursday

0 13

Brennan Johnson is edging closer to a Crystal Palace transfer and Tottenham fans have taken the chance to send him off on a high.

Tottenham Hotspur could not make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they took on Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, following their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend.

The two sides played out a dull 0-0 draw that leaves Tottenham still in the bottom half of the table, having failed to capitalise on dropped points from their top-five rivals.

In a game where a goal was needed, Spurs did not have their top scorer from last season, Brennan Johnson, to call upon from the bench, as he was not included in the matchday squad.

Tottenham fans pay tribute to Brennan Johnson amid Crystal Palace move

It was reported on Thursday evening that Brennan Johnson’s move to Crystal Palace is a done deal, with the London side agreeing a £33.5m deal with Tottenham, while also reaching an agreement on personal terms with the Wales international, whose medical was said to have taken place the same day.

Spurs supporters are well aware that they are set to lose Johnson, who will always be fondly remembered following his toe poke in the Europa League final against Manchester United back in May.

The Tottenham fans made their feelings known during the 0-0 draw with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, as the away end paid tribute to the winger with chants of “Johnson again, ole ole”.

Spurs begin reshaping squad plans

Johnson will be missed, but it is clear Tottenham are looking to move on players they believe are not part of their long-term plans.

So far in the transfer window, Spurs have already agreed the departure of two players, with Johnson set to join Crystal Palace.

Manor Solomon has also secured another loan move to Fiorentina following a lack of game time during the first half of his season-long spell at Villarreal, which was cut short.

Solomon’s move to Italy includes an option for the Serie A side to make his signing permanent in the summer.
