'Bid submitted': Man United now set to complete first transfer of 2026
Manchester United are gearing up for the winter transfer window that kicks off tomorrow.
The Red Devils have previously used this window as an opportunity to send their academy stars on loan.
However, they are expected to be a busier than usual to address concerns in their squad.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United have now received a bid for Sam Mather from Turkish club Kayserispor.
United are considering the bid, with the Turkish outfit already in talks with the winger over personal terms.
Kayserispor are pushing to sign Mather for the second time in the last six months.
The two clubs agreed on a fee and a buyback clause in the summer for Mather’s permanent exit.
However, the deal collapsed in the 11th hour as the Red Devils did not have enough time to facilitate the transfer.
Mather has outgrown the academy and this is now the perfect chance for him to kickstart his senior career.
The 21-year-old has a contract at United until June 2027 but the club are expected to support him in moving on.
He has predominantly played as a left winger but could also operate in central attacking positions.
He has played four times in Premier League 2 this season and bagged two assists.
Mather has also been part of the training squad under manager Ruben Amorim.
He has previously spent two spells on loan away from Carrington but could not make the most of his opportunities.
He played only 12 times for Rochdale and Tranmere Rovers combined.
We expect this transfer to be sealed early next month so that United can focus on other deals.
