Why NFL Writer Thinks TreVeyon Henderson Is Best ‘Rookie Building Block’ On Patriots
The Patriots made a remarkable choice in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft by selecting running back TreVeyon Henderson from Ohio State.
Henderson has stood out as a key contributor to New England’s remarkable offense this season. According to Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon, Henderson could be the best rookie building block for the Patriots’ future.
“Not trying to diss No. 4 overall pick Will Campbell, who looks like a long-term pillar at left tackle,” Gagnon wrote on Wednesday. “Both of these guys should be locked in as long-term building blocks within that offense, but Henderson has actually outshined the banged-up Campbell from Round two with over 1,000 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns. He tore it up in the month of December.”
Henderson has rushed for 858 yards and seven touchdowns this season. As the playoffs approach, Henderson is likely to be a crucial factor in the offense, especially since New England will have at least one, and possibly two to three, home games.
The Patriots could be eyeing horrid weather in Foxborough during the playoffs, which could lead New England to rely more on the ground game rather than its passing.
