How much Crystal Palace are willing to bid for Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson in January transfer window

Brennan Johnson has been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur and one club could be ready to launch a bid when the January transfer window opens.

Brennan Johnson has had to endure a number of setbacks already across the first half of the season. The Wales international saw his usual position claimed by Mohammed Kudus, forcing him to play on the left wing.

Maintaining his place on the left has also proved to be an issue, with Wilson Odobert seemingly preferred. In fact, even Randal Kolo Muani, who is naturally a striker, started over Johnson last Sunday against Crystal Palace.

However, Thomas Frank has claimed Johnson is still an important player to Tottenham Hotspur, despite his lack of starts.

Crystal Palace want to win the race to sign Brennan Johnson from Tottenham

Crystal Palace are one of the teams most heavily linked with Johnson and according to the Daily Mail, the Eagles could swoop early in January to secure the winger.

Johnson himself is in no rush to leave Tottenham, but he has been frustrated by his lack of starts. This will leave Palace feeling like a deal is achievable, as they discuss an offer of around £35m.

Spurs could listen to considerable offers for Johnson in order to allow spending on new signings and Palace are the most likely team to get a deal done next month.

Bournemouth have also explored the possibility of signing Johnson as an Antoine Semenyo replacement, but their attention is divided as Leicester City’s Abdul Fatawu is an option too.

Everton and Aston Villa are said to be fellow admiriers of the man of the goalscorer in Bilbao, but both clubs are unlikely to make a move to sign him before the summer. This means the race for Johnson is Crystal Palace’s to lose.
