Pacers Coach Calls On NBA To Discipline Celtics Center After ‘Very Dangerous’ Play

The Boston Celtics pulled off their most improbable win of the season Monday night against the Indiana Pacers.

The 20-point comeback, led by all bench players without a starter on the court, took place in the third quarter. However, it is a play that occurred with 4:30 left in the first quarter that Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle wants the league to take a look at.

“I don’t know what the exact rule is,” Carlisle said. “I think it was 4:30 or 4:32 to go in the first quarter. There was a play where Isaiah Jackson gets elbowed by (Neemias) Queta and then simultaneously gets elbowed a second time. Then he has to go out of the game for concussion observation and then was unable to return.”

The play Carlisle was referring to was a post play in which the 7-foot Queta was jockeying for position with the much shorter Jackson.

Queta planted on his left foot and spun back toward the hoop before putting the basketball off the glass.

He connected with his non-shooting arm as he took the shot, and his follow-through arm after it missed.

Carlisle took offense to the play that looked pretty consistent with many that one would see when watching an NBA game.

“I hope the league looks at that,” Carlisle said. “That was a play that I felt should have been looked at in real time. It did not appear to be accidental, and it’s very dangerous.”

Unfortunately for all parties involved, the physical play in the post resulted in a head injury for the Pacers’ young forward.

“I don’t know how long he’s going to be out, but it’s pretty serious,” Carlisle said.

“The play that happened, it just can’t be missed.”
