Former Tottenham striker reveals he was in awe of ‘proper Englishman’ at Hotspur Way
Carlos Vinicius has said something interesting about working with one big-name player at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Brazilian arrived on a season-long loan deal from Benfica for the 2020-21 campaign, with the Lilywhites choosing not to sign him permanently at the end of the term.
Vinicius had decent numbers for Spurs, scoring 10 goals in 22 outings, but most of those strikes came in the Europa League.
The centre-forward made only nine appearances in the Premier League, and that was because he had Harry Kane in front of him, and the 30-year-old has now shed light on working with Tottenham’s record goalscorer.
Carlos Vinicius admits he learned a lot from Tottenham legend Harry Kane
Vinicus has been prolific since his return to Brazil at the start of the calendar year, finishing the season with 12 goals in 14 outings for Gremio.
He has now reflected on his time at Spurs, admitting that he learned a lot from watching Kane’s professionalism and mentality upclose.
Vinicius told ESPN Brazil: “Kane was the one I learned the most from. It’s a very high level.
“What really catches my attention with these top players is the level they keep and the fact that they can score a hat-trick one game and turn up the next day as if nothing special happened. Very natural. It’s like, ‘let’s go again, let’s work again’.”
“Kane is a proper Englishman. Polite, involved, does his job, then goes home. The English are like that.”
Kane is the perfect role model for any young player
While Kane’s quality is second to none in world football, it is interesting just how many of his former and current teammates reference his mentality.
That is undoubtedly the 32-year-old’s standout trait, and it has contributed significantly to his career success.
It is worth remembering that Kane was never really the most talented player in any of the age groups while coming through the ranks at Spurs.
However, he was always determined to learn and get better, which is why he is the perfect role model for any young player around the world.
