Drake Maye Throws Support Behind Mike Vrabel For Major Award
In recent weeks, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has emerged as one of the NFL’s top MVP candidates. He isn’t the only person in town making a push for an end-of-the-season award, though.
Through 13 games this season, Maye has thrown for 3,412 yards and 23 touchdowns, helping New England coast to an 11-2 record. And while Maye has to go out and deliver the goods under center, he isn’t the only person responsible for the team’s success.
In his first year as the team’s head coach, Mike Vrabel has played a major role in the Pats’ stunning turnaround as well. So while Maye continues hearing his name in the MVP conversation, he believes that Vrabel should be the frontrunner to win the Coach of the Year Award this season.
“He’s got my vote,” Maye said when discussing Vrabel’s Coach of the Year candidacy. “He’s got a lot of people’s votes. He’s got everybody’s vote in this organization.”
After laboring through a miserable 2024 campaign with Jerod Mayo in charge of the team, Vrabel has returned to his old stomping grounds and made New England a team that the rest of the league fears. Considering how awful the Patriots were last season, Vrabel’s work with this squad simply cannot fly under the radar.
There are several other worthy candidates for the Coach of the Year Award, but if Vrabel and the Pats end up winning the division, and potentially the No. 1 seed in the AFC, the award may be his to lose. Vrabel could take a big step towards earning a noteworthy individual accolade in Week 15 by leading his team to victory over the Buffalo Bills.
